August 1st already!!

Gosh, I feel like summer is FLYING by and once again I haven't done the things I wanted to with the kiddos. Still a few weeks to do a couple more things. We did go to Turtle Cove last week which is a BLAST!! Collin took it upon himself to disappear only to find him about ten minutes later in which he informed me he went down the blue slide....what!! My little bubs is getting braver and braver. He is a bit skiddish at times, but for the most part he does what he wants when he wants....since birth!!

On the scrappy front, the first means we get to put up our early layouts debuting the kits. Here's mine using the solo kit. Did I mention I love the SEI Poppy paper. Giving that Silhouette of mine lots of use lately -- finally!

Here is a layout I did for my challenge this month which is to scrap a layout using a "collage photo format". I've been seeing tons of inspiration on this lately, so I thought I'd give it a go. It was fun and I love the fact that you can fit all these photos into one layout and only print once. You can find templates for photo collages at Scrapbooks Etc.

Off to chill out for the evening. I've had quite a day between work and shopping after for an outfit for tomorrow's concert -- our annual event -- KENNY CHESNEY!! Us girls are going to have so much fun!! We got pre-party passes to ride the Detroit Princess...so excited!!

I have been behind

in the "thank you" department lately. I did thank this wonderfully most generous lady over the phone, but I also wanted to come give her a shout out on my blog.
Love ya, Kim!!

She graciously made it possible for me to come visit all my favorite Okie girls this August. I will be meeting them in Tulsa and then driving up to a scrap retreat that they frequent called The Scrapping Pad. I can't wait!! Thank you so much, Kim, for making it possible. I will never be able to thank you enough or be able to comprehend the generosity and kindness you have shown me...gonna cry hee hee

I also want to thank my bestest gal pal, Cheri and the sweetest gal evah Carolyn -- can't wait to see you, too!! Actually, I want to thank the whole crew while I'm at it for making it possible to come and stay to play with them! See ya in few weeks!!

Oh, remember this Kim...I'm your scrapping slave for the weekend so bring some extra photos and paper

A couple things I finished up

last night. I have quite a few "thank you" cards to make to I'm now just putting a dent in my list. I also dug into the gorgeous SR Grafton. Man, that stuff is just GORGEOUS!

Off to the water park today. We had a new one open up this season about 30 miles away, so we're off to try it out. Of course, I'll be taking more pictures..lol Have a great day!!

Few more scrappy things

Here is a layout created using Creative Scrapper's sketch #8 and a specialty kit I purchased from Remember the Moments. Love patriotic papers and Scenic Route Liberty didn't let me down :D

I did this card a while back, but forgot to take a picture of it until I used it for my niece's birthday. I used scraps from K&Co. Urban Rhapsody.

Happy 39th Birthday

to me!!! Yep, it's after 1 am on so it's officially my day. I'm holding on to 39 FOREVAH!! ..hee hee I can remember thinking this age was old. I can remember being 22 and my mom and dad being 39...where did time go?? It's just a number I keep telling myself. Yep, that's what I'll go off to bed soon repeating over and over...lol

I did have a lucky week so far. My sister won Kenny Chesney tickets on the radio along with the boat pre-party passes --- WOO HOO!!! We already have tickets, but we needed the boat passes. So she'll sell the tickets off. Then I hand my cell to Travis to be the 25th caller on a local radio station to win Jessie McCartney and Jordan Sparks tickets. The phone rings, rings, rings and I tell him to hand it back just in case we are the winner. I hear...25. I say, "Am I the 25th caller???" Yep, I sure was!! Woo HOO!! Why couldn't it be money, though???LOL I gave the two tickets to Travis for him and a friend to go...nice stepmom that I am :D He was THRILLED to say the least!

Sunday evening my mom and sister took me out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants -- Slows BBQ...yummo!! I'll have to post pictures as soon as I can get them downloaded. Darn computer is not recognizing the old camera. That's a whole other story...my computer! I decided to run a cleaner on it to solve ONE ISSUE and let's just say I have MANY ISSUES now...jeez! But back to the dinner...it was AWESOME!! My sister is the BEST!! I just love her to pieces I swear!! She sure knows how to make a birthday special :D

I best be off to get some good sleep. Wrinkles start creeping in at this age...lol
Have a wonderful day!!!

Horrible picture... **better picture now

but here is my layout I managed to pull together at the last minute for Triple the Sketch's CHA special sketch. I loved using the Chatterbox papers from BPM's July solo kit -- yummy stuff!! I'll take a better picture and repost it tomorrow. You don't want to even know how long it took me to get this one between one camera not being recognized on our lovely computer, smashing a lamp onto the Pergo floor leaving a gouge and broken glass everywhere, then having the battery in the Rebel die right after getting a better shot...ugh!
***I took a better shot this morning and I do think it shows the colors of the papers WAY better :D

Yesterday..

was my bub's 6th birthday!!! We had a birthday party for him on the 5th, so yesterday was low key. I did reserve a birthday present for him -- the one he really wanted -- WWE Smackdown VS Raw 2008. You should have seen the look on his face -- pure DELIGHT!! Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures yesterday, but I did take plenty on the 5th. I can't believe my baby is not a little baby anymore...ugh!! Bittersweet feelings for sure!

Here is my semi-homemade cake...lol I bought a Sam's Club cake and then decorated the top with the rice paper WWE emblems, sprinkles, and minature WWE characters. Can you tell that Collin loves WWE??!!

Other than that, I've been cleaning cleaning and more cleaning around here. In my spare time, I have scrapped a bit that I will be able to show tomorrow. Until then :D

I love seeing what everyone does with the kits! Here's mine using CBX Happy Day -- terrific color combo on this paper!

Here's a layout I did for the heck of it. I just wanted to use some of the FP papers and this picture of Collin was perfect.

Color

I just love color and all its possible combinations. That's why I'm posting about these two awesome blogs --- Color Story Challenge and Color Combos Galore.

I am going to try (try being the key word here...lol) to stretch myself in an area that I lack at. When I scrap anymore I just pick the papers that come in a line. I want to try to start mixing and matching paper lines and color combos. We'll see how this goes --- don't expect too much for now :D

Some recent projects

Here are some cards I made for Marisa and Collin's teachers. I scraplifted an idea from Michelle Lanning. She is sooooo talented and her teacher project involved little french fry boxes. I decided to go quick and easy since I left it to the last minute and slap some cards together instead.

Marisa has this little girlfriend in her class who just LOVED the mini phone book I made for her. When I was at her school field day, Rania told me over and over how much she loved the book and wish she could have one of her own. Well, I didn't have time to make her an entire phone book, but I picked up this $1 journal from M's and decorated it for her as a "thank you" for helping us when Marisa lost her science project papers. Rania copied them all for us so we could complete the project.

Then there are a couple layouts I decided to do. This first one uses some Grungeboard that I altered for my June newsletter article at Back Porch Memories. The Halloween layout uses this week's sketch over at Creative Scrappers.

Off to visit my sis -- peace out!

Why??

do I always get a little sad when the end of the school year comes around??? I'm just dreading going to my son's last day of kindergarten tomorrow because I know I'm going to cry. Not a bad dread, but the sort that makes me feel so sad inside. I get mushy about these things. I cried my eyes out when Marisa finished kindergarten, first grade, and second grade too! Gosh, I've got to get a grip...lol I think it's just because time seems to fly so fast and watching my kiddies grow is exciting, but sad at the same time. I know that before we know it they'll be teenagers not wanting a thing to do with us. Travis is already at that stage. He starts high school in the fall and I just can't believe it!!! Well off to start my toughening up techniques. Maybe I'll take a good dry-me-up pill before I head up there tomorrow...LOL

That's because this is when we get to upload our DT creations for Back Porch Memories!!! For the month of June, I got to work with the GORGEOUS WRMK Frenzy line. Gosh, I can't tell you how much I loved these bright fun colors that totally depict summer sunshine weather.

Sketches

I was supposed to make up some sketches to post, but didn't get a chance to do it on the computer. So I thought I'd post a few I've drawn up recently by hand. Hope you can see them okay. I should have went back over everything with pen, but didn't have the time with all the kids' end of year activities that have me hopping lately. Now they might look a little off of scale, but remember I draw them with a 12x12 layout in mind. If I get a chance soon, I will pen them in and post a better picture.

HURRAY to the RED WINGS!!!

We brought Stanley home!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew they'd do it!! If there's one sport that I can tolerate to watch and even go to the games it's hockey. I love the fast paced violent nature of the game...lol

Picture Share

We've been having a little camera practice/learning session over at Willow Traders each week. This week's instruction was about vantage point. Here's the ones I decided on featuring because she was my only willing participant other than the flower...lol All of these were taken with my new Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens. LOVE THAT THING!!!

Now, of course, this last photo I doctored with PSE 5.0 -- turned the photo B&W and then added a burnt edge as it's called. I just can't get enough of this camera I tell ya. :^D
